My last post I talked about Destination Manipulation and how sometimes we try to get our way by doing whatever it takes to get somebody to do what we want them to.  The problem with that, is when you try and manipulate a situation and get somebody to love you, it isn’t real.

True love can never be forced, it must come to the realization of that person allowing them to make that decision.  If somebody doesn’t choose to love you, then it isn’t love.

Bruce Almighty paints a great picture of how love is only love through free will.  In this movie Jim Carrey tries to use God’s powers to manipulate Jennifer Aniston into loving him.  Bruce (Carrey) tries to do all these things to earn her love and fails miserably until he comes to realize that He can’t change the way she feels about him.  He has to fully surrender it to God, and at that point he finds that he would be content with letting her go so that she could have a happy life regardless of who she is with.

Just like how we can’t make people love us, that is how God is with us.  He gives us free will to choose to love Him or not.  If He didn’t allow us to choose we would be robots just doing what we are told taking away free will and the ability to fully Love God with our whole heart.

Now if we are real with ourselves we will see that we would be silly not to love Him after everything that Jesus has done for us.  He laid down his life for us so that we could have life and have it to the fullest.  There is no greater love than somebody who lays down their life for you.  Remember you have free will to choose God or deny him, but it is your choice.
