“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”  Luke 6:46

If we consider ourselves to be a Christian, then this verse should hit us pretty hard.  A born again Christian is a disciple of Jesus Christ.  Somebody who walks like, talks like, and does everything that his teacher does.   If we say that we are a follower of Jesus Christ then we need to look at our lives and ask, “are we being obedient to God’s word?”.  “Are we following and doing as Jesus did?”

How can we call ourselves disciples of Jesus if we don’t follow in His ways?  That is why Jesus asks in Luke, “Why do you call me LORD and don’t do what I tell you?”  Think about this…  The Lord of the universe who knows best for all and knows the future, is saying if you call me LORD, trust me by being obedient to my word.  Don’t just say your a follower of Christ, because you can’t fake it with God, but live it; or don’t say your a Christian at all.

“As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.” Luke 6:47-48

But if we do follow Christ with our everything, reading the His word, and praying to Him, then we will have a life with a solid foundation that can’t be shaken.  We can’t put things into practice if we don’t know what they are.  So let’s get into the word and be a true follower of Jesus Christ by not only word but by action.

Again, if you say that you are a Christian, then follow after Jesus.  If you choose not to follow after Jesus, then don’t consider yourself to be a Christian because all you are doing, is giving our amazing Savoir who came and laid down His life to give you life, a bad name.

Let us all rise up and take our faith seriously because this life is short.  When we walk in the ways of Jesus, we can change this world to be a better place.  But it requires us to not just say LORD, LORD, but to do as God says.
