“What do you mean,  It’s not about me?  I am really good at what I do!!!  And God gave me these talents!!!”

“Yeah But you totally missed the point… God didn’t give you those talents so that you can build yourself up and look good in the eyes of others.  He gave you those talents so that you can bless others so that He would be glorified.”

We all love a good accolade and enjoy when people look at us with awe in what we have done or created through the talents that God has given us.  But there is this other issue that comes with being built up; it is PRIDE.  Pride comes when we start to think that we did these great things on our own, and begin to exalt ourselves through what God has done.  When we feed into this idea of “It is all about me”, our mentality switches over to thinking that we deserve credit for what we have done, and will get mad if we don’t get that recognition.  In some cases we will start to go through new circles of people trying to find those praises so we can feel good about ourselves.

How many times have we told ourselves… “I don’t have to take this, I am better than that.”

PRIDE can easily get in the way of living out Christ example. Jesus didn’t have to die on a cross, but He humbled Himself and layed his life down out of Love.  He lived out His words and Glorified the father through his actions.  We have to remember that IT IS NOT ABOUT US… but about giving recognition to the Lord for what HE is doing.

Let’s look to Christ’s example next time we are put in a situation where we think we don’t deserve something unfair, or trying to get praise for something that God is doing in our lives.  Let us humble ourselves and give credit where it belongs… With God.
