IAMFORGIVEN

What would you do if the person you loved the most died? That person that had the most impact on you during your life and was always there for you. Somebody that poured into your life and always wanted what was best for you even if you didn’t know what that was. What if you watched them be killed for something they didn’t even do? All you could do is watch because you were so scared that if they found out that you were with them, you would be killed too? What if that person was the most amazing and perfect person you had ever met, but you watched them take the punishment upon themselves they didn’t deserve in total silence for a reason you couldn’t understand. You would wonder why they didn’t say something and defend themselves? This situation is just wrong and unjust. A man who didn’t deserve to die like a criminal was beaten and hung on a cross to die. Why? He loved us so much that He was willing to take our punishment for what we deserved through our disobedience to God.

This is what the disciples experienced when they watched Jesus Christ die on the cross. They lost a friend, a mentor, a teacher, and their Lord that day and couldn’t do anything about it. They looked up and watched Jesus take his last breath with tears from their eyes, and they couldn’t believe what they were going through. It would have broken their hearts, and their loss could have caused them to experience a deep sadness. He was gone.

But the story doesn’t stop there, three days later, they went to the tomb to find that it was empty. Confused about what was going on Jesus who had been dead for three days came up to them and revealed that He had defeated death. He had proved that not even death could hold Him back. He was the son of God and now every word He had ever said held total authority and proved that He was the third part of the Trinity.

This is why we celebrate Easter; this is the day that Jesus Christ defeated death and rose from the dead. Through this evidence, we find the foundation of Christianity. Because Jesus rose again, this was the fulfillment of the Old Testament Messiah who would come and save the world. Through Jesus, we can have a relationship with God again, and He left us the Holy Spirit to help us live more for Christ.

Easter isn’t about a little furry bunny and finding eggs. It is about Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior rising from the grave, defeating death and reconciling our relationship back with God. Without this act of love from Jesus, we would have to live a perfect life to go to heaven. But because He rose again we can have a full life and an abundant relationship with God. Happy Resurrection Day!

If you have any question about Christianity, let me know. There is no better life that a Life with Jesus Christ.
