“If only I had a husband or a wife, then I would be happy…” – Single People

I have been single for a long time always wondering when that perfect mate will come into my life, and for you single people you understand when I say that it isn’t easy when people are always asking the question.. ” So when are you going to get married?”  This can be like a slap in the face for those that are waiting on God to provide them a mate that is equally yoked.

Society, even within the church, has put a lot of pressure on the single community to be married.  This has caused a lot of people to try and take things into their own hands pushing them into a relationship that is not of the Lord.  But aside from all the pressure we have to understand that when we fall into this we are not trusting the Lord, and that puts us in a situation that could cause a lifetime of sorrow and pain.  (Even wanting to go back to being single)

It is extremely hard to wait and trust in the Lord for that husband or wife but when we turn to Him, He gives us the strength to get through it.  We have to see this time of singleness as a blessing to be able to do ministry with the freedom that we wouldn’t have if we were married and had kids.  This freedom also allows us to build friendships and get into peoples lives.  We were meant to be a family in Christ and if we aren’t living life together we have missed the point.

I hear single people say “If only I had a husband or wife, then I would be happy…”  This is far from the truth. If we are always searching for something that we don’t have, then we will never be happy because there will always be something out there we wish we had.  It’s seeing the blessings that we have now that brings us happiness.  Every good thing is from above so find joy in Christ and Trust that He knows what is best for you.
